Candle magick is one of the simplest forms of spell casting in which the caster decides on a goal, visualises the end result and focuses intent or will to manifest that result. This is based on sympathetic magick (imitating your desired outcome) and the law of attraction (like attracts like).
Typically a caster will inscribe a word of intent on the candle (a toothpick is useful for this) but writing on a piece of paper the same colour as the candle and burning can also be effective.
It is also useful to anoint candles with oils and herbs with correspondence to the spell you are performing.
For ATTRACTING you rub your candle with oil moving from the top of the candle to the middle then from the bottom to the middle.
For BANISHING you rub from the middle to the top then from the middle to the bottom.
An example of a self love spell might include a pink candle inscribed with the words SELF LOVE, anointed with rose oil and rubbed with dried lavender, due to their loving correspondences. Your might also accompany the spell with corresponding crystals such as rose quartz. It is also most effective to cast spells on the relevant corresponding days of the week and moon phases (see moon magick & 2020 full moon diary).

**Before performing spells you should cleanse the area, ground yourself and cast a circle for protection and containment of your energy:
Cleansing
Cleanse your area with sacred smoke (smudging – see what is smudging) using white sage or palo santo. When smudging it is useful to fan the smoke into all the corners as this is where stale energies linger. Sprinkling salt in the corners of rooms can be useful for soaking up negative energies.
Grounding
Make sure your energy is grounded and centered. Use your own preferred method or I have created a free 7 min grounding meditation hereif this is useful.
Circle
Cast your circle, call in the elements, your energy support team and and deities you resonate with (as explained in thehow to cast a circleguide).
Close
Thank and release all your energy support team, deities and the elements (moving anti-clockwise) and close the circle (as explained in thehow to cast a circle guide).
Leave the candles to burn down completely, once they have, the spell is complete.
Anointing with oil helps with the whole of the candle to burn more cleanly. Once mastered you rarely have any left over wax at all.

Light blue candles are a very spiritual color, they are more in tune with lunar energy, intuition, communication, meditation, and inner wisdom, harmony, tranquility, understanding, patience, peace and stillness.
Orange Candles are a combination of yellow (mental agility) and red (physical action-energy) building vitality, energy, and stamina. Orange candles help in spells for attracting success, prosperity, good fortune, good luck, business and career success, and for attracting others in a positive way.
